Physical objects become digitally understandable

markUID's check-in system allows you to capture events throughout an object's lifecycle. Each check-in can capture location data, environmental conditions, operational data and custom information relevant to your processes.

markUID's check-in system is at the heart of continuous data capture throughout the lifecycle of your physical objects. While the master record of a UID defines basic identification features, the check-in system enables objects to be enriched with dynamic, time-based data.

With just one simple API call, you can document comprehensive information:


  • - Who processed or checked the object and when
  • - Exact location with hierarchical accuracy (workstation to country level)
  • - Environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity or pressure
  • - Process-specific measured values and test results
  • - User-defined metadata for your individual requirements

This data is cryptographically secured and linked to the UID, forming a tamper-proof chain of events. In addition, passive interactions such as scanning or querying a UID are automatically logged in a ledger system.

Cryptographic integrity

The particular strength of the markUID check-in system lies in its cryptographic security. Each check-in event is sealed with a unique hash value that includes all previous events - comparable to a blockchain technology for your object data. This hash chain makes it technically impossible to manipulate past entries without this being immediately recognizable. Even minimal changes to a previous entry would invalidate the entire subsequent chain.

This process offers decisive advantages in regulated environments: Auditors can mathematically verify the integrity of the data without having to blindly trust the system. The combination of time-stamped events, cryptographic chaining and digital signatures creates tamper-proof documentation - ideal for compliance-critical industries such as pharmaceuticals, medical technology or aviation, where the probative value of records is of central importance.
